My boy never ceases to amaze me. Liam has become the friendliest little guy. I love taking him to play with other kids. He goes up to them and says “Hi, whats your name? I’m Liam Michael McCarthy. Whatch you doin?” Its funny to me how many kids are taken back by his approach and often don’t respond. It doesn’t seem to faze Liam much, he just continues playing along side next of them. But if another child (usually older) responds Liam will chat their ear off.

We play pretend all day. His imagination is awesome. He tells me “I have a wonderful game to play Mom!”  EEEK so cute. (Except not cute when we have played for hours on end and I’m exhausted and want to take a break.) He has done a great job learning to play on his own as well.

He is really into play doh right now. He watches these weird you tube videos sometimes of people making things out of play doh so he gets really inspired. I told him if he starts using the potty all the time I will buy him a really cool play doh set. So far not so good.

He is not ready for potty training. He keeps psyching me out! Some days I think he is ready and others not so much. I’m not going to push it. I’m sure when he is ready he will let us know.

He knows how to spell his name and can now recognize numbers 1-10. I am constantly trying to come up with new things to keep him challenged. The other day we were driving and he said “Look mom the moon is in a crescent” WHAT?!?! He also told me when we passed an excavator and used the word excavator.

When he makes us laugh he says “I’m hiiilarious” HAHA! He also learned that making a sad pouty face makes me laugh. We play the feelings game and I ask him to make a happy, sad, scared, and angry face. Working on identifying emotions…because man does he have them! A few days ago he woke from nap and cried for 30 minutes straight…for no reason. A teeny tiny piece of trash flew out of the stroller when we were walking out of the mall, I didn’t notice, and he started screaming bloody murder and I had no idea why…long story short we hunted the parking lot for that piece of trash and threw it in the garbage can. He was instantly fine.

I have a feeling I’m going to need to read up on some love and logic for him because he sure knows how to twist getting disciplined. If he gets in trouble he will start to agree with me which makes me incredibly frustrated. Or he will completely try to change the subject. We have been sending him to his room when to calm down when he throws a fit and a few minutes later he will come out breathing heavy and say “I’m calm mom, I’m calm.”

My new favorite thing is that he has become very affectionate. Which was honestly a really hard thing for me that he wasn’t but I just told myself that was his personality and it didn’t mean that he didn’t love me. Lately he will tell me out of the blue “I just love you Mommy” Or he will grab my cheeks and kiss me on the forehead. In the mornings he comes into our room and snuggles up next to me for awhile. Pure bliss.
