We have a home video of my second Easter and I am on the floor in our living room opening all the gifts from my Easter basket made by my Nana Tina. I of course have pink curlers in my hair and a long Ariel nightgown on 🙂 My easter basket was full of candy, toys and special goodies. About 10 minutes after opening my basket, my dad comes around the corner with a brand new shiny pink bicycle with a horn, basket, and handlebar tassels! It was awesome. I hug him and tell him thank you and then go right back to opening candy hehe. My reason for sharing this story is that after receiving all these special things my mom proceeds to ask me “Dionna, what is Easter about?” My two year old self looks at the camera and says, “Jesus. He saved us mommy.”
That video has always stuck with me. My mom instilled that in me and I want to do the same for Liam. In the midst of getting gifts and having fun celebrating Easter, I want to raise him knowing why we celebrate Easter and that it has nothing to do with the Easter bunny. Not that he can’t enjoy and partake in festivities I just want him to know truth.
That being said, we had a WONDERFUL Easter Sunday. We went to church at Mission Hills (which we really loved, maybe new home church?) with the Cookes. And then spent the afternoon with my parents and grandmother.

The McCarthy’s had to go to Vegas that day, but earlier in the week Liam got his Easter basket from them…..full of everything he will need for camping this summer! Can’t wait for that!!!
