Being chosen to be Godparents is a very special honor, but it is even more special when you are there to see all the changes and experience so many wonderful memories with your Godchild. I can’t believe how fast Kason’s first year has gone. Feels like only yesterday I was holding Ashley’s head, fanning her, coaching her on, wiping her forehead, and photographing this sweet baby boy making his entrance to the world. I got to witness my best friends become parents and that is an amazing memory I will always have (slightly traumatizing but still amazing!)

Kason, we love you so much! We are so proud of who you are and will always be here for you whenever you may need us and even in the times you may not want us 😉

We have loved watching you learn and grow this first year of life and will always cherish the special moments and look forward to the new memories.

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy!

These two don’t know how lucky they are to have each other yet, but I know one day they will. Liam and Kason have loved each other since day one. They are bros, buddies, troublemakers, boundary pushers, comics, and above all best friends. I know as they grow up they will have many new friends, be interested in different things, maybe even lead separate lives, but they will always have each other. Very few of us are lucky enough to have friends so deeply rooted in our pasts and so very present for our futures.

I am looking forward to watching them play on sports teams together, have sleep overs, their first business venture (a super awesome lemonade stand designed by Ryan with a business plan put together by Paul), go on vacations, and stand up for one another.

I’m sure they will wrestle which usually turns into a fight because boys get mad when they get hurt. They will get into trouble. They will eat us all out of house and home. They will probably be hurt over a girl, or two. They will debate and argue, over video games or what to play, and some day over world issues.

But one thing I know for sure, the four of us will do our best to raise them to be men of God. That is the only certainty.

This past week Liam and I went shopping for Kason’s birthday presents. I’m not really sure if Liam even understands what a birthday is quite yet, but he was very involved in the present picking department. We went to three toy stores and he was happy to pick out fun new toys for his friend (maybe because he knows he gets to play with them when he goes over, but let’s not give him that much credit.) He even helped me put them them in the birthday bag. I thought for sure he was going to throw a fit when we were at the store but didn’t at all. He would pick out a toy and give it to me and say “Kase??” That’s what he calls him. It’s precious.

Liam loves you very much Kason AND he is very sorry he bit your finger last night! We almost made it a year with no biting 🙁
