So, about a week ago we had a bride contact us and say that she found us through pinterest. This really peaked my interest because at this point last week we barely had our site up. This got Ryan and  I thinking how to optimize our pinterest page. So we created a board for our photography and a few others for inspiration for the type of brides and weddings we would like to photograph.

Now that I have been using pinterest for over six months now I feel like I have a rhythm for how I go about finding people to follow that share my interests and organizing my boards exactly the way I like them. After talking with a few friends and posting a question on my facebook regarding how people are using pinterest, I have come to the conclusion that EVERYONE is using it so differently. Therefore, I thought I would write a little blurb about how I use my pinterest and get some feedback on how you are using yours.

I started by categorizing all my boards into the different categories I’m interested or the different events I have going on in my life currently. I then searched for bloggers or companies that I follow on a regular basis and followed them. I also searched specific topics and just found random strangers that had similar tastes in the things I was interested as well. I hardly ever go to the popular page. I always look through the pins of those that I’m following and actually repin things that I really like to my boards. I also tend to click on the pin and go to the websites that it came from, which has really helped me find photographers I like, nutritional websites, and clothing stores I never knew existed! Lastly, I like to Stumble, a lot. When I stumble across something I really like I use the pin it button at the top of my tool bar and pin the image straight to my boards from that website.

My way is by no way the right way. I dont think there is a “right” way to use pinterest. But like I said, after talking with so many I figured I would share my thoughts on the matter! With so many forms of social media this is an example of one I find to be something that is stress and drama free and something that can specifically cater to you as an individual!

How do you pin?
