Washington State

A very very dear friend of ours, Mr. Steve Anderson recently joined the navy and is now stationed on Whidbey Island just north west of Seattle with his wonderful bride-to-be Aurora. We were fortunate enough to travel out to visit them in early April. It was a beautiful and relaxing trip. We stayed in the guest cottage of their neighbors across the street, while Steve and Aurora house sat in their main house. This place was just oasis of beauty and comfort. Everything about it was sweet and welcoming.

Our first day we took the ferry to Seattle and visited the grave site of Bruce and Brandon Lee, went to the top of The Space Needle, got some refreshments from the first Starbucks, wandered around Pike Place Market, and found a very large concrete troll hiding under a bridge.

The following day we went to the tulip festival and it was beautiful! We rounded off the afternoon with an unexpected hike up near Deception pass. It was the most gorgeous hike I have ever been on. We finished the evening by roasting hot dogs and smore’s in their fire pit on the best deck/ patio i have ever been on!

On Saturday we headed north to Anacortes to get on a whale watching tour. As most of you know, I have been crazy about Orca whales my entire life and was so thrilled I was going to see them in the wild. Unfortunately, after being on the water for five hours there was not one in sight. I would lie to say I wasn’t disappointed, but the breathtaking ride through the San Juan Islands did help make me feel a little better.

Our last full day there we spent at the beach and visited the lighthouse where Steve and Aurora will be getting married in October.

On all of our vacations, Ryan and I try to get out and do and see as much as we can. This was truly the most green and lustrous place I have ever seen and hope to go back again! Here are few images we took. Hope you enjoy them!
